Community and Citizen Collaboration


Vision:
Piedmont citizens are actively involved in volunteerism and take great pride and ownership in the community. There is a central location with postings of volunteerism opportunities. Our civic and charitable participation continues to grow. The needs of our community are met through open communication between city government and the citizens of Piedmont. Our progress is defined by a shared vision and collaborative effort of our city leadership and residents. We embrace change because we enable change.

Goal:
To be a community that embraces open, honest and solution-oriented communication.

Key Areas of Work:
- information access
- volunteer support system
- communications platform
- interactive citizen network

Objectives:
- to have 300 volunteers by year end (2008) and increase the number by 10% annually (Definition of volunteer: giving of one's time without pay to this community.)
- to have 20 citizens engaged in communication with elected or appointed officials monthly (Definition of engaged: membership with online forum or attendance at a school or municipal meeting.)
- to increase citizen access to community interaction by January 2008
